A Traventira driver meets you at Cairo International Airport with a name sign and takes you to your hotel to check in and rest after your flight.
In the afternoon your Egyptologist guide takes you through the Grand Egyptian Museum: the complete Tutankhamun collection, the colossal statue of Ramesses II, the Grand Staircase and the Khufu solar boat. Start time is adjusted to your arrival.
Start at the Giza Plateau with the Great Pyramid of Khufu, the pyramids of Khafre and Menkaure, the panoramic viewpoint and the Great Sphinx. Continue to Saqqara and the Step Pyramid of Djoser, the oldest stone pyramid in the world, then Memphis, the first capital of ancient Egypt, with the fallen colossus of Ramesses II and the alabaster sphinx.
Visit the Citadel of Saladin and the Mohammed Ali Mosque with its view over the city, the Hanging Church and the old lanes of Coptic Cairo, then Al-Muizz Street and the Khan El Khalili bazaar at sunset for shopping and a coffee at a traditional café. Early night recommended: tomorrow’s flight to Luxor leaves early.
Early private transfer to Cairo International Airport for the morning flight to Luxor (about 1 hour). Your Luxor guide and driver meet you on arrival.
Visit three royal tombs in the Valley of the Kings, the terraced Temple of Queen Hatshepsut, and the Colossi of Memnon, finishing before the midday heat. Then check in at your Luxor hotel and rest.
In the cooler late afternoon, explore Karnak, the largest temple complex in Egypt, with its Great Hypostyle Hall, then Luxor Temple as the lights come on at dusk. Overnight in Luxor.
A relaxed morning, then a private transfer to our reserved viewing spot in Luxor with shade, cold water and certified solar eclipse glasses. The partial phase begins around 11:40 AM; totality arrives around 1:00 PM and lasts about six minutes and 20 seconds, one of the longest on Earth this century, with the corona, stars and planets visible at midday. The partial phase ends around 2:25 PM. The exact viewing spot is confirmed closer to the date in line with official arrangements. Expect temperatures above 40°C: bring a hat, sunscreen and light clothing.
Rest in the afternoon, then a private transfer to Luxor Airport for the evening flight to Cairo, and a private car to your Cairo hotel.
